New Holmenkollen Visualization
exhibition  realtime  unity  visualization

[071003] Copenhagen based JDS Architects have won the open competition to build the new Holmenkollen ski jump in Oslo, Norway, to be finished in 2010. To help promote the project, shiftcontrol teamed up with JDS and created an interactive visualization exhibited at the Oslo Architectural Triennale 2007.

The JDS proposal, "Extending Tradition", features an internally lit facade and light-beam that enable the physical structure to reach into the sky. This key feature became focus for the visualization together with placing the model in it's intended context.

To enhance the notion of location and environment, a basic atmosphere system was created, with day-night transitions and snow. In true shiftcontrol style, viewers are also given the power to interactively move around the site and even follow along on a jump.

Controls for the Unity applet are: Arrow keys for camera movement, 1 changes POV and 2 toggles night/day.
